SOLEA LYCEUM

Solea Lyceum was established in 1919 and in its over than a century existence has been the Educational Lighthouse of Solea Valley and beyond. Solea Valley is one of the most beautiful areas of Cyprus spreading between the Troodos Mountains and the Morfou Bay.The beautiful valley of Solea is situated along the main Lefkosia–Troodos road (56km from Lefkosia, 56km from Lemesos)and it includes thirteen picturesque mountain villages.The SoleaLyceum is centrally located inthe village of Evrychou. The students that come to the school are mainly from these thirteen villages. In addition, students from neighbouring villages/areas also choose to study at Solea Lyceum mainly because of its high stardands and/orits accesability. It is our vision that Solea lyceum will remain the Educational lighthouse of Solea valley, but to do so, it needs to be technologically upgraded to meet the present demands. The school needs effective integration of ICT in the curriculum for all subjects.At present, the school curriculum includes a new vocational course, greater diversity of students, running EU and national projects (EPAS, Euroscola) and forthcoming ones, all of which require participation in online conferences and seminars, and generally becoming and staying connected with partner schools, working and collaborating online locally and internationally.Also, teaching staff is required to participate in online seminars/ workshops and attain professional development online.What is more, parents and community members can benefit by having opportunitiesfor personal learning and community improvement.
