Digging Into Comets_GR

Finding a new house for humans in the outer space

The inquiry based approach consists of finding the real problems of living on this beautiful planet, Mother Earth, in order to start searching another house for humans on another planet from the Solar System. They will also use World Wide Telescope for exploring the planets of the solar system and for building the slide show. Which planet of the Solar Sistem is the most similar to Earth in order to send there a space colony? At least for the beginning we will remain in the Solar System, but it is possible to go further one day.

Follow the steps of a meteorologist

The focus of special negotiation is the profession of the Meteorologist. All students process real-time data (mean, correlation) and result in conclusions about how to modulate the climate of a place. (https://www.slideshare.net/PanagiotaArgiri/meteorologist)

Following Curiosity on Mars

The students will follow the rover Curiosity on its way to the red planet Mars by using the World Wide Telescope. The didactical approach is based on scientific inquiry in order to give students the enjoyment of finding out for themselves and initiates appreciation of the nature of scientific activity, of the power and the limitations of science. The main question will be: Where is Curiosity now? The educational activity will benefit of e-learning tools like WWT, and some web resources.

Gas Laws with Stars and Nebulae

Much of the evolution of the universe can be described through the pull of gravity and push of pressure. Gravity condenses gas, it heats up, and if it can, it expands, and if it can’t, stars are formed. In this Hangout, we will consider the gas laws, and look at different kinds of nebulae.

Guess my Garden

Random as a mathematics concept is complex and known to be problematic for students. However, chance is the base for many games and playing games is fun. Random Garden is a micro-world that lets the learner manipulate the sample space of a peculiar random generator. According to math literature, the concept of randomness presents some key aspects that characterize its nature. Guess my Garden focuses on: the concept of independence of events generated within a given process at different moments; and the dichotomies fairness vs. unfairness, predictability vs. unpredictability, determinism vs.

Inquiry Based Learning Scenario for Climate Change

Students acquire knowledge on environmental problem of global climate change and studying the causes, consequences and ways recently to address the problem. To study the phenomenon students take part researcher: a) for the processing and analysis of data, b) cultivating the mathematical solving skills algebraic problems for explanation and arguments of the results and c) explores the scientific field of knowledge to examine ways solving the problem.

This Inquiry Based Learning Scenario hosted in Inspiring Science Community
