The Dr. Horácio Bento Gouveia School is located in the urban area of Funchal and started activity 30 years ago. The school was totally rebuilt 6 years ago and has over 200 teachers and 1600 students, 10 to 16 years old. The name is a tribute to one of the most famous writer from Madeira.

This institution intends to contribute to the quality of the education of the Educational Community, in a perspective of lifelong learning, promoting the involvement of all in the construction of the success of each one.

The School encourages the following values: competence; quality; innovation and credibility. Has a motto - "With HBG the future willbe better."

The school is involved in several projects and also has a variety of clubs in different areas.

Step by step has been affirming itself in the national and international panorama, revealing competence and dedication. This is evident in the examinations and the projects in which it is involved.

In a global perspective, the school has good conditions and motivated people to work it out with the School Projects, producing always better outcomes, personalized in well prepared students to secondary school.

The school has been developing over the past decade, various partnership programs with national and European entities, always aiming to provide the best experiences and knowledge to the students. Approved in the program erasmus + KA1
