4th Primary School of Nafplio
School 2 membersThe 4th Primary School of Nafplio is located in Nafplio, a beautiful historic town close to such important archaeological sites in Greece, as Epidaurus, Mycenae and Argos.
The 4th Primary School used to be a Unified Reformed Education Curriculum all-day school between 2010 and 2016. It is housed in two modern buildings and attended by approximately 350 pupils. The teaching personnel consist of over 30 teachers. The school’s infrastructure in terms of materials and equipment is being constantly upgraded so as to be able to face new educational challenges.
Our teaching staff are highly trained and qualified in education and teaching. A large percentage of our personnel hold a second Bachelor’s degree as well as Master’s degrees. Our teachers have served in posts of responsibility as School Advisors, School Activities Advisors, new textbook trainers, etc, they have been involved in various projects, including the Open Discovery Space, and they have also been trained in new technologies. The school’s headmistress is both an eTwinning ambassador and a Teachers4Europe ambassador.
Our school is a member of the Greek National Network of Libraries, and it is currently carrying out an eTwinning project. Furthermore, it has taken part in the SELFIE project, which assesses the use of technology for teaching and learning in schools.
The school also participates in educational competitions such as mathematical, reading, logical reasoning and creative writing contests.
The 4th Primary School cooperates with local bodies such as the Municipality, the department of the National Gallery and the Department of Theatre Studies, and either co-organizes events with them or participates in their events (Christmas celebrations, sporting events, dance festivals, etc).
Our school has engaged in cooperation actions and experience exchange programmes with local schools and others across the country. For instance, our Sixth Formers welcome pupils from other schools and show them around the town in the context of a local history programme. Moreover, the school holds theatrical events and traditional dance performances in cooperation with other schools in the area.
The image of our school is promoted via its website, where a dynamic webpage for an educational walk around the town of Nafplio has been created as the end product of a digital project and is open for contribution by any pupil.
In general, our school is strongly interested in cultivating its pupils’ critical thinking skills, in establishing co-operation and collaboration and in promoting active citizenship skills through contemporary interdisciplinary teaching and pedagogical approaches.
