 CHEMIST’S EXPERIENCE:

In the chemist's management we need to consider some important aspects.

The chemist's can sell medicines that expire in less than three months. To avoid medicine expiration, the chemist's can send them back to the supplier if the expiration date is too close. Expired medicines need to be thrown away in particular bins that you can find in the chemist's. Firstly, the customer needs to remove the package, because it can't be disposed of with the medicines. From now on, medicines disposal can follow different procedures. One of those is bringing them to the Amiat, so that they can be disposed of  in the right way.

Here is a dedicated department where customers with the help of the pharmacist measure their blood sugar and other parameters.

In this department, pressure controls are also carried out with a professional machine, which can also be used autonomously without the help of the doctor. The measurement is done in total sterility as you take a small amount of blood and it could be dangerous to come into contact with certain substances, in addition the meter should be checked monthly. Each pharmacy has its own disposition of drugs. The products inside the pharmacy can be arranged and organized by pharmaceutical form if they are cosmetic medical devices or medicines. The arrangement in alphabetical order is important to facilitate the search for the drug you are looking for. At the chemist's there is a promotional day where some people of some companies come to the chemist's to present new medicines.

WAREHOUSE:

The warehouse is the heart of the pharmacy. The following competences are very important. During the working period we have been explain that our law established that there are some specific medicines that have absolutely to be present on the chemist's shelves. Every drug is reported and loaded. The storekeeper must always check the expiry of the drugs, put the DPC in its place. The storekeeper labels the products that will go on sale. All orders must be uploaded to the computer and all drugs must be put in their place. The storekeeper must take into account suspended drugs that will be placed in the appropriate shelf.

LABORATORY:

One of the activities conducted at the chemist's was the laboratory where everyday we set up galenical preparations.

Galenicals are drugs preparations from chemical and auxiliary agents, prepared by the chemist's in the chemist’s laboratory.

Some common preparations are those used to treat dermatitis, psoriasis and skin irritation. In this video we are preparing a solution of minoxidil useful to limit hairloss.

REYNALDI

In 1980 a natural cosmetics laboratory was born in Turin, from the innovative idea of Doctor Reynaldi.   All her products are natural. Reynaldi formulates and produces cosmetics for the hygiene and for body, face and hair care.  They support social projects working with various organizations in Italy and in the world,

Our workshop started with four meetings where some teachers told us about , cosmetic and homeopathy.

Later we went for two weeks at a chemist's: a close contact with work.

Finally  we visited a cosmetic company.

Final thoughts

G. “This was my first working experience and I think it was amazing. I met great people that explained to me lots of interesting things. I loved the atmosphere that my colleagues created so much.  I liked seeing that a chemist is not only a person who reads a prescription and sells medicinal products but a chemist has to listen to the patient and find the best treatment for his/her problems

F.“I found the first week tiring because I was not used to standing for so many hours. Thanks to this experience I have my first approach to the world of work and I understand that it is necessary to respect the schedules of job. I realized how hard it is to work so many hours a day, but it was a very positive experience, interesting and educational. In my opinion this experience was useful and inherent to the course of study that I am doing.

C. In this period I understood a lot of things about drugs and about the world of work. I enjoyed in this experience because I found funny and nice doctors

G. My experience of alternating school  and work was fun and challenging. The first day I arrived and I was entrusted to one of the two warehouse keepers.
Nobody explained me how the pharmacy worked or what the various tasks were. Initially it was difficult to integrate and settle, but with the passing of the days everything went better. I think the fun part was working with the celiac department manager. She was very nice and very friendly, she had just arrived like me so I helped her to harrange the department and the products. During the two weeks I did a lot of items like recording the products that were coming, take the products in stock and those exposed to the public, measuring the pressure to customers and other small tasks. From this experience I learned more than anything else how to approching with new people in a field of work out, at the scholastic and pharmacological level it has left me no signs or new knowledge.
