IIS Santorre di Santarosa

School   2 members

The Secondary Secondary Institute Santorre di Santarosa is located in Turin, Northern Italy. From 2010-11 the Institute hosts very different didactic paths: a linguistic high school, a human sciences high school, a chemical technical institute (environmental biotechnology and sanitary biotechnology). which somehow foreshadow the "Campus", intended as a space dedicated to the individual, cultural and civil growth of students where they carry out didactic, research and socialization activities. This is why the Institute accepts very different types of skills and educational sensibilities. The presence of disabled students and others with special educational needs is significant. The presence of students with non-Italian citizenship or of foreign origin is not significant. The school population presents a medium and homogeneous socio-economic context. There are however a plurality of starting levels in terms of skills and knowledge and this requires a constant commitment on the part of the Institute to define welcome and support actions especially during the first year of the course. The teachers of IIS Santorre pursue the general objectives with rigor and attention. The teaching activity favors the interactive lesson in which moments of lectures alternate, discussion in small groups and teacher-student dialogue. The academic performance of each student is carefully monitored by his teachers, the teacher coordinator of the class and the teaching staff of the Headmaster with a continuous relationship with the families.

The guidelines on which the Institute's EDUCATIONAL ACTION is based are:

INCLUSION -  All components of the school take on the task of welcoming students and facilitating their inclusion in the school environment, from the first year they are accompanied in a formative and educational path that highlights their propensities and helps them overcome and / or face the typical difficulties of the evolutionary age.

EDUCATIONAL AND SCHOOL SUCCESS INTEGRATION, SUPPORT. Each student, followed by teachers and inserted in specific educational projects, can be part of the school community with serenity and sense of belonging, find support and incentive for their learning and recognize their qualities in order to achieve excellent levels of competence.

ORIENTATION

During the last three years of study, in each address, the teachers also organize work experience in non-profit associations, universities, local authorities,  industries and small businesses, in order to make operational, and not only theoretical, learning in the classroom. At the same time there are often meetings with significant figures of culture and the world of work, as well as with witnesses of historical and existential experiences of great importance. About 50% of the students of the institute continue their studies towards the university faculties.
