Het project Open Schools for Open Societies (OSOS-project) stimuleert een ‘open school’ benadering. Een open school stelt zich open voor haar omgeving en dit zal de kijk en opvattingen van een school uitdagen. Nieuwe inzichten worden gebruikt voor het innoveren van onderwijs. Binnen het Europese project OSOS is NEMO Science Museum de Nationaal Coordinator voor Nederland. De scholen in deze community maken deel uit van deze Nederlandse afvaardiging binnen dit project. This is the community of SALL Schools in the Netherlands. Schools as living labs is een Europees project waarin internationale experts op het gebied van formele en informele educatie een nieuwe methode voor Open Onderwijs ontwikkelen. Door gebruik te maken van de Living Lab aanpak, ontwerpen scholen samen met hun lokale omgeving oplossingen voor relevante kwesties rond het thema voedselsystemen.
