Smart sustainable piscine

There is only one open pool on our island Kalymnos and it is open only through summer and early October. It is located in the local stadium and its costs make it difficult to remain  open throughout the year. Since the sea is easily accesible during this period , it is not so useful for the children that they would like the piscine to be accessible during winter too, so they could continue their trainning to swimming. Thus they wanted to investigate and propose to local authorities some other ways that the piscine can be made low cost, attractive and thus sustainable.

They investigate their ideas working as a team on a model piscine and they propose the use of smart lights, they build a solar charger for mobile phones that visitors or athletes can use and they also try to build a solar heater for the piscine. Taking advantage of sunshine, is a good way of thinking how to use renewable energy sources.
