3rd Primary School of Ioannina (Maroutseio)

The 3rd Primary School of Ioannina has the name "Maroutsio", from the people of Ioannina, Simos and Lambros Maroutsis, who had settled in Venice and were engaged in trade. They founded the Maroutsio School or Maroutsaia which was a famous Greek School in Ioannina.
It was one of the few spiritual beacons of Hellenism. It was maintained with the income brought by the interest of the bequest of five thousand ducats that Lambros Maroutsis had deposited in a bank in Venice "for the establishment of a seat of sacred and secular sciences of Hellenistic and Latin tradition". Evgenios Voulgaris was appointed as the first headmaster, who opened new horizons in the country's spiritual establishment. In this school an association was formed by a group of students, which in the name of the Holy Trinity through the letters would take care of the freedom of the Genus. Members of this company were Cosmas the Aetolos, the teacher of Tyrnavos Ioannis Pezaros and the bishop Dionysios of Platamon.
Athanasios Tsakalov-Tekelis, the youngest of the three founders of Filiki Etairia, studied at Maroutsaia School, which was directed by Athanasios Psalidas.
The school declined when Venice fell to the French and the deposit in the Venetian bank in 1797 was lost. Due to lack of resources it stopped working. The Chaplaincy School was founded in its place.
In 1961, the 3rd Board of Ioannina belonged to the educational district of Zagori-Metsovo and operated with four positions (4/Θ). Merged with the 9th 4/th into an eight-seater as the 3rd Ioannina. It is abolished by Decree on 5/9/1980 and established as the 3rd 12/th Maroutsio Primary School of Ioannina with a new Decree on 6/9/1980.
Promoted from 12/th to 13/th in 1983 and from 13/th to 14/th in 1985. Then in 1989 demoted to 12/th. At the same time, the 22nd 6th grade Primary School of Ioannina is established and they are co-located in the same building.
From the school year 2011-2012 it merges with the 22nd Board. in 3rd grade 12/term Primary School of Ioannina.
The School has 14 organic teacher positions PE 70, 2 organic PE11, as well as specialties PE05, PE06, PE79.01 and PE86. A total of 31 teachers from all specialties serve.
Today it operates with 12 General Education departments, an Integration Department and a Reception Class (T.Y.) ZEP. It has a certified IT Laboratory. 3 parallel support-co-educational teachers also serve.
The School belongs to the Educational Support School Network (SEDEY) of the 2nd Special School of Ioannina and a Diagnostic Educational Evaluation and Support Committee (EDEAUS) has been established for the school year 2020-2021.
The school has 250 students, who are divided into classes A΄1 -A΄2 - B΄1 - B΄2 - C΄1 - C΄2 - D΄1 - D΄2 - E΄1 – E΄2 – F΄1 – F΄2.
The Full Day program operates with four sub-sections until 15:00 and two sections until 16:00 with 81 students enrolled.
