quote from one of tje student:
"Hello, I am Yahali. Im in the 10th grade from Ort Rogozin School Migdal HaEmeq. As part of the SALL-ISTEAM project, an overarching theme was defined, and it is intergenerational connection. Before we started to think about an idea for the project, we researched what problems and needs older people have. We saw that they have many hardships mentalities that arise from loneliness and the feeling that no one needs them or cares for them anymore. Because of their health condition, they need a lot of help and they don't always ask for it so as not to be a burden on their relatives. The help they receive from National Insurance is also not enough, nor is it easy to receive it.
We thought about how we could improve their situation and help them and we came to the conclusion that we want to build an application that would make it possible to create an available and updated pool of volunteers, which could help many people to donate and give of themselves on an occasional basis. We know that people who want to volunteer regularly usually find frameworks for themselves, but unless they want to volunteer occasionally or in specific areas - it is more difficult for them to do it.
We are currently in the planning stages of an application that requires pre-registration, including personal details and contact details detailing the areas in which the person wants to volunteer, a suitable location, available hours and desired frequency. The idea is similar to the "Friends" organization that helps people in need on the roads in Israel. There are also registered volunteers who come to the rescue according to availability and proximity to the event location.
We believe that since these are occasional volunteers that do not require commitment, there will be many people who will want to participate in our project. The database we will create will be able to be used by public bodies such as the volunteer organization, welfare and care organizations for the elderly, and more.
We believe that our project will help create a convenient and fast connection between the giving party and the receiving party."
