In this Open Learning Scenario, the students are going to learn about the whole food cycle from planting till consuming and composting!
Background
Students disconnected with nature and food production. Discuss with the students if they are aware of different foods production methods.
Aim
Explore different types of foods and how they are grown or produced.
• Understand the concept of sustainable food production and its importance for the environment.
• Engage with local farmers and environmental organizations to learn about sustainable food production.
• Learn about the concept of food waste and brainstorm ideas for reducing it.
Co-creation with societal actors
Visit a local community garden or farm to observe plants growing and learn about sustainable farming practices.

Implementation
Plan and plant a small garden or herb pots in the classroom or schoolyard.
Work in groups to create posters or a short skit about sustainable food production to raise awareness among classmates and other students.
Organize a classroom taste test using ingredients produced from the school garden.

Student reflect on food production methods and their school garden operation and maintenance needed actions
