Learning English by playing is FUN!

The main aim of this project is to strengthen and systematize English knowledge of low-vision children through different

role-playing activities with the help of the free RoboBraille web-based and e-mail service. In the first part of activity a few low

vision children will be involved in an English lesson activity through which they will practice the 4 steps of the free

RoboBraille web-based and e-mail service implied in making up different conversions from a given file in some alternative

formats for that kind of file.

In the second part, children will be involved in a contest and they will be divided into 2 teams with the goal to achieve both

the enrichment and the enhancement of their vocabulary by new English words and composition of utterances with them. By

taking part at the contest, they will develop their thinking and its operations (analysis, synthesis, generalization) as well as

competitive spirit along with a growing interest in expressive language and reading. Each team will choose a logo and

parents will be motivated to support financially members of both teams’ awards (computer sticks).

In the third part, the children and their parents will take part of implementing the activities using the RoboBraille service by

working together with the aim of creating a poems’ data base for their younger peers in the smaller grades. Parents will

keep track of the process via ODS portal and they will further encourage children to practice language skills by making up 3

types of resource bases for English learning materials (audio, e-books and other accessible formats), that afterwards it will

be sent at 3 e-mail addresses specifically created for the school library.
