Twenty two 10year old kids under the Greek sun in their schoolyard in Piraeus near the sea were enthusiastic that measured the circumference of the earth. We celebrated with balloons and colored cards. We are so proud and happy for it.

A group of students and teachers of our school, we repeated the experiment of Eratosthenes.

We are students at a school in Portugal, we live in the Algarve (Portimão). 
We have sun almost all year around, but we had a lot of difficulty measuring the shadow because sometimes it was raining and sometimes there were clouds due to the dust from the Sahara desert. But we managed 🤗

High school students of Boulafenteio General High School of Leros using balloons, explained the Eratosthenes experiment to the pupils of Primary School of Agia Marina. Afterwards, they executed the experiment and calculated the perimeter and the radius of Earth with great accuracy.

Hello! My name is Dubravka Mitrasinovic and I am a math teacher in Uzicka gimazija from Serbia. My students and I took part in the Eratosthenes Photo Contest Μarch 2024. We had a lot of fun. This is our photo for the contest.

My name is Elena Papadopoulou and I am a primary school teacher in Komotini, Greece.

My students and I decided to revive the Eratosthenes Experiment and submit to this contest. The challenge was huge as my students are 6 years old and they are in the 1st Grade. They were so thrilled about what they achieved and they have become so interested in Science from then on!

I am proud of them as we measured the earth's perimeter with great accuracy!

Hello to all Eratosthenes, we send you greetings from Istanbul from the shadow of the Theodosius Obelisk.

We professors also have fun on the day of Eratosthenes' experiment! Walking around the city of Florence, we found the sundial that marks the true solar time of the place where we are. The sundial is located in the Museum of the History of Science and can be admired in all its beauty. The shadow of the glass globe placed on top of the large bronze gnomon indicates the time and date.

My name is Ani Pavlova and I am a secondary school teacher in Vratsa, Bulgaria. As a teacher of English, I was fascinated by science while taking part in the Eratosthenes experiment together with my colleague, who teaches Physics, and twenty-six 8th grade students. The activity was a brilliant example of participation and involvement, thinking and learning, working and having fun. Through this collaboration we have made a further step from the culture of working alone to the culture of working together.

Στην ακριτική Αλεξανδρούπολη, στο 1ο Πειραματικό Δημοτικό Σχολείο υπολογίσαμε την περιφέρεια της γης αξιοποιώντας την παρακαταθήκη του Ερατοσθένη και το καταφέραμε με πολύ ικανοποιητική ακρίβεια, με σύμμαχό μας τον ανέφελο ουρανό!
