The 26th Primary School of Ioannina, with 103 pupils and 18 teachers of all specialties, situated at an urban area, fully functional as a unified type of Primary School with 6 morning and 2 full-day classes. The majority of teachers have a permanent position at the school, which guarantees the continuity of the school's activities. It has technological equipment, a computer lab, a modern library with all the necessary equipment and a connection to digital libraries.

Schoolchildren come from a majority of middle- to low-income families.

There are 15 students from refugee families who have recently come to Greece and do not speak the Greek language at all or speak hardly any.

There are also students with immigrant backgrounds, mainly from Albania, who belong to the second generation.

Finally, there are 10 students with diagnosed learning difficulties in our school.

Our school, as a learning and evolving organization, emphasizes teamwork/participation, continuous improvement of the learning process and has a culture of quality. In recent years, it has attempted to approach teaching with contemporary teaching methods (collaborative learning, experiential learning, integration of digital technologies into the learning process). ). It places great emphasis on the teaching of Language, Mathematics and Science.

It also emphasizes the formation of a school culture of acceptance, particularly supporting students from foreign countries trying to involve the whole school community (students, teachers,  parents).

Its goal is to create an inclusive school. It has recently been experimenting with differentiated pedagogy and the use of open learning tools and learning activity management systems.

It has applied good practices on approaching culture and the environment and is a hub of neighbourhood activities. Teachers along with school students are implementing innovative programs in the fields of culture, environmental education and health education in collaboration with museums, local institutions and  universities.

In the afternoons at school a cinema club, an art workshop, dance classes and parent schooling seminars are organised by parents. The pedagogical team of the school has an important contribution to the planning of these actions.

However, the school needs support and is trying to achieve this through the continuing education of teachers as well as through the European school experience.
