Democratische basisschool De Vallei

De Vallei is a democratic elementary school based on Natural Learning. We offer children the space to develop naturally. Students are owner of their own learning process. Together with their coach, they give shape to their learning needs.

What is a democratic school?
At a democratic school, all pupils and teachers have an equal voice in how education is designed. In this way they actively create their own powerful learning environment. School appointments are made in a weekly school meeting.

In addition to independence and self-reliance, the development of personal responsibility is promoted at a democratic school. In addition to basic skills such as reading, writing and calculating, children also learn how to make decisions, budget management and organizational skills. These and other 21st century skills predominate at this school.

De Vallei distinguishes itself as an innovative school with personal attention for every child. We encourage a child to learn what it wants to learn, based on the predisposition, interests, need and development phase in which the child finds himself.
