F1 in Schools

The F1 in Schools is a worldwide multi-disciplinary challenge for pupils aged from 9-19, and one of the largest educational initiative promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). It is now in its 15th year of operation and has grown around the world operating in over 30 countries. The participant students form a Formula One team of 3 to 6 members are commissioned to design, construct and race a small scale Formula One Car made from balsa wood and powered by compressed air cylinders. Besides using this initiative for teaching Science and Technology the formed teams are given the opportunity to compete regionally, nationally and internationally for the F1 in Schools World Championship trophy. Since the demonstrator could cover more than one didactical unit, the sample topic below (one didactical unit) was selected for the needs of the first phase of application: The lite version of Logger Pro ISE Tool will be used for analyzing the average speed data of a F1 in Schools team?s Car and then compare the team?s average speed with the speeds of national and international record-holders.
