Τeacher training workshop: "FRONTIERS: Bringing cutting-edge physics research into the classroom"

Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to the teacher training workshop: "FRONTIERS: Bringing cutting-edge physics research into the classroom". This workshop will present our vision for introducing state-of-the-art research in Modern Physics to the classroom and is the first of a series of workshops to be implemented in Greece, Italy, Portugal, France and Ireland. It concerns Science teachers of secondary education.

How do I participate?
Your participation requires registration at the following link:
http: //openschool.ea.gr/register/ where you indicate that you would like to attend the "FRONTIERS: Bringing Front-Line Research in Physics to School Class". First come first served.

When and where?
On October 12 at 12:00 - 18:00 at the premises of Ellinogermaniki Agogi School in Pallini.

Is there a cost?
Participation is free and attendees will be given certificate of attendance upon completion of the workshop.

What does the workshop include?
In this workshop we will be introduced to the pedagogical approach of FRONTIERS for introducing Nobel Prize Physics in the Classroom. We will explore educational activities developed by the FRONTIERS team for this very purpose in the fields of High Energy Physics, Gravitational Wave Astronomy, Neutrino Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology.
Furthermore, we will be able to speak directly with researchers in the above fields of Physics. We will explore how researchers analyze data from the ATLAS experiment at CERN using the HYPATIA educational software, make a virtual visit to the VIRGO Gravitational Observatory in Italy, and learn how you and your students can help improve one's performance. of a Gravitational Wave detector by studying its sources of "noise".

Who organizes the workshop? :
The workshop is co-organized by Ellinogermaniki Agogi (EA) and the Institute of Accelerator Systems and Applications (IASA) of NKUA and NTUA.

This workshop is supported by the FRONTIERS project (website: www.frontiers-project.eu | fb: Frontiers Project), funded by the European Union's Erasmus + program. The workshop is being held in the context of Open School Day which co-organised by the  Institute of Education Policy, Ellininogermaniki Agogi and Computer Technology Institute and Press. http://openschool.ea.gr.
