Colegio Menéndez Pelayo (Castro)

Colegio Menéndez Pelayo is one of the oldest schools in Castro Urdiales. It began its educational activity in the academic year 1958-59 under the name of Colegio Nuestra Señora de Lourdes. It was founded under the protection of the Barquín Hermoso Foundation and run by the Congregation of the Daughters of the Cross.

We are now a private subsidised school owned by the Educere Foundation and property of the Barquín Hermoso Foundation. The centre has a student body of around 700 pupils aged between 3 and 16 years old, and its facilities, with a total surface area of around 10,000 m2, are open from 8:00 to 16:00 hours without interruption.
