Objective of this educational scenario constitutes the study of the lighthouses network of Greece through Geographic Information Systems, so that students can understand some basic concepts of the field of Geographic Information and Cartography. The educational scenario is divided into three sections of total duration of 5-6 hours (depending on the judgement of the teacher). The first section, which lasts two hours, concerns mainly the acquaintance and the familiarization of students with the concept of lighthouse and with the lighthouses network of Greece. The second section, which lasts also two hours, concerns a simple application in ArcGIS software, in which the students will collect and manipulate data regarding the lighthouses. Finally, the third section, which lasts from one to two hours, concerns discussing about the conclusions of this educational scenario and introducing follow up activities.
