The school was established in 1962. It is the largest public high school in Haifa. More than 1,500 students from seventh to twelfth grade study in it, in two buildings.

Our school is a space for curiosity and knowledge, in a very wide range of fields. The most powerful fields are: the fields of mathematics and science and the fields of the arts. Our mathematical flagship is the Technion program in collaboration with the Technion for gifted students in mathematics. The Science-Technology Reserve program is another successful excellence program that combines math, science and computer science.

In high school, students are offered many fields of science and technology for expansion: physics, chemistry, biology, biotechnology, robotics and computer science.

In the fields of matriculation arts, we offer the theater program, which presents plays from the best Israeli and world plays, the thriving media and film department (about 200 10th-12th grade students), which participates in film festivals for young people and wins many awards (recently won first prize at the Valencia Film Festival Good Dad ") and an outstanding visual arts major who also participates in exhibitions in Israel and around the world. Last summer, a student of the major participated in an international exhibition in Tokyo, this is the second time in the art major.

The choice of majors for studies allows and invites a combination of science and technology and the arts, a fruitful and interesting combination for students. The personal choice and encouragement of the students for personal excellence, each in his own field is at the heart of the work at the school.

There are no outstanding classes in Urban H. There are outstanding students in all classes. Technion students, reserve students for example, as well as special education children are integrated in all school classes! In this, Urban H. differs from many high schools.

Another issue at the heart of the work at the school is encouragement and guidance for social involvement and leadership. The school has student councils in the division and the upper division and a group of flowers from Mashatzim (young Shelach instructors) and from Mashatzim, a large and active and volunteer community in the school community and the wider community. Personal meetings and documentation of the lives of the loved ones of the city of Haifa, a project led by Margalit Benimi at the school or plans for meetings with students in Arab schools in Haifa and the north with the help of Beit Hagefen.

Urban E. has foreign relations and youth delegations. The old connection is with an academic gun, Boston, as part of the Haifa-Boston partnership that began with the establishment of an academic gun, also under its previous name, THE NEW JEWISH HIGH SCHOOL. This is an extraordinary connection in its wealth and contribution, to the students of both schools. For the past 10 years, another contact has been made, with the Goethe Gymnasium from the city of Bensheim, Germany. A relationship of mutual youth delegations is also very successful.

Every year a small delegation of students goes on a summer camp to twin cities in Shanghai, China. A summer camp where teens meet with peers from around the world and learn with each other, about each other.

And of course there is the trip to Poland, with an extensive preparation program and post-trip summary activities.

In terms of student population: school is the most heterogeneous. Students from the Carmel ridge from established and educated families and also students from very weak neighborhoods in the city study there. This requires unique learning activities, excellent programs and assistance programs as well as counseling and social activities that connect students. The students themselves testify that they are satisfied and happy to have diverse and broad social circles.
