Our Living Lab focuses on increasing food security in the local community. By definition, "Food security exists when people, at all times, has physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life”
The COVID-19 pandemic dramatically increased the number of people facing acute food insecurity all over the world including Israel, while part of them is unfamiliar to the municipality welfare system. In order to increase food security, we asked for help from:
- Digital application experts:
assisting us with the digital aspects for potential solutions (e.g., development of cell phone app).

welfare workers from the municipality
assisting us with the format and questions of the application.
רקע
Our school has activism classes and in our group we decided to focus on the walfare of people. we did some research and found out that a lot of people in need of food security are too shy to walk in to the municipality's office and ask of food and financial help.
מטרה
we wanted to make the application for that help available digitaly so people wont have to be seen/"shamed" in the municipality's office requesting food.
we saw a problem which could be fixed and help a lot of people and we decided to make a prototype with the website "wix".

we worked with the municipality's welfare department; of which they helped us with developing the questions and the application for the app. during the process they didnt interact with us personally and they pretty much just watch the process.

we asked the municipality what problems did they have in what departments and this was the biggest one.
we saw our project as the only solution because there is no other technological way to answer the application from any place.
we created the prototype in a way that was very accesable to us. although it isnt the best solution it is a big step in the right direction.

student 1 (o): i think that the project is important to thee community because it helps people in need and those people to have to be "shamed" and i think this is the best way to make it more accesable to people in the city
Futurel Plans
we plan to make the app independent of wix and put posters around the city with a qr code the people of the city could scan and automaticaly download the app.
