Development of a unique Hub to support inquiry based learning of 6th and 9th grade students. The core of the project is the support mechanism for the students and teachers which includes opening the school to a wide range of experts and mentors from the academic and the informal education community.
The inquiry process begins with a series of engaging meetings aimed to rise curiosity and introduce to the students the inquiry based learning process. School labs and other facilities, including relevant school staff, are open for students after school hours. The process comes to its peak with the regional science fair.

Leading teachers from the school and some local experts require payment. A fully equipped school lab. Budget for buses to visit the educational centers. Help in preparing and operating the regional science fair.

כחלק משיעורי מצוינות מדעים בבית ספרנו, יצאנו לסיור בחוף הים יחד עם חוקר ימי שחשף בפנינו בעלי חיים ימיים שונים ובתי הגידול שלהם. בחרנו בעל חיים שכמעט ואינו מוכר-עשתורת- זהו סרטן שהוא מין פולש ומצוי בישראל רק 6 שנים. את המחקר ביצענו במעבדת אשכול הפיס ביישוב שלנו בסיוע של גורמים רבים בקהילה.בסיור הלימודי נחשפו התלמידים לבעלי חיים ימיים חדשים שקודם לכן לא הכירו ולתנאים השוררים בבית הגידול. את המשך שלבי החקר המדעי עשינו בבית הספר ובהמשך אף במעבדות אשכול הפיס. לכל אורך העבודה מסייע לנו צוות מקצועי.

את בעלי החיים הבאנו למעבדת אשכול הפיס. שם גידלנו אותם ועקבנו אחר התנהגותם. גורמים רבים הבקהילה סייעו לנו במחקר, החל מהחוקר הימי, מנהלת אשכול הפיס שפתחה את המעבדות לרשותנו בשעות אחהצ ובחופשים, מורה למדעים והסטודנטיות שלה, לבורנטיות, תלמידי חטיבה וההורים שלנו.

לאחר הסיור הלימודי בחוף הים העלנו שאלות מחקר והחוקר הימי והמורה למדעים נתנו לנו אישור לשאלת המחקר שהעלינו. קראנו הרבה מידע ומאמרים בנושא אותם סיפק לנו החוקר הימי (קשה היה למצחוא מידע מכיוון שזהו מין חדש שפלש למדינתנו). העלינו במעבדת אשכול הפיס השערות ותכננו את הניסוי. את הניסוי ביצענו באשכול בו הכנסנו לכל כלי סוג קרקע שונה ומדדנו את זמן ההתחפרות של העשתורת. שלב כתיבת הממצאים והסקת מסקנות נעשה בכיתה, תוך שהמורה מלמדת גם מיומנויות מחשב כמו עיצוב טבלה, ייצוג המידע בגרף ועוד. בסיום כתיבת העבודה עיצבנו בהנחיית המורה למדעים את הפוסטר המדעי.

בסיום כתיבת עבודת החקר, הצגנו את העבודות בפני תלמידי הכיתה, הוקמה תערוכה של התוצרים בבית הספר לכל התלמידים. העבודה שלנו נבחרה לייצג את ביה"ס ביריד החקר היישובי בה משתתפים כל בתי הספר היסודיים וחטיבות הביניים בקרית חיים. שם הצגנו את העבודה בפני חבר שופטים.
