OSOS Summer School 2019

Biomimicry is the practical application of nature's teaching strategies to the invention of sustainable technologies, designs and products for human beings. The word Biomimicry comes from the word Bios that means life and imitation, how to mimic life and nature. Biomimetics is an approach that seeks to find innovative solutions to human problems through nature genius. Biomimicry Greece Research and Innovation center is in collaboration with similar centers around the world and promotes the idea and thinking of biomimetics.

Student projects meet real needs in the community outside of school, they are presented publicly, and draw upon local expertise and experience. The school environment fosters learner independence –and interdependence –through collaboration, mentoring, and through providing opportunities for learners to understand and interrogate their place in the world.

For all of us to survive and prosper, we need new, intelligent urban planning that creates safe, affordable and resilient cities with green and culturally inspiring living conditions. Transport is fundamental for the economy and for our society: not only to go to school or work, but to keep the market alive, guaranteeing the movement of raw materials, goods and services in the world.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are a tool of Geoinformatics as they combine both descriptive information and spatial information into a computational system. The incorporation of new technologies at every stage of the educational process is a prerequisite for developing students' creative and critical thinking and providing them with the skills to manage, process and distribute knowledge and information throughout their lives.

The Roadmap proposes a concrete overview of the implementation of open schooling approaches, offering a clear description of the necessary steps that schools will need to take in order to become hubs of responsible innovation that bring together as many educational stakeholders as possible with an aim to produce ideas and solutions that address local issues and challenges.

This guide aims to help teachers and students to work collaboratively in the development of their projects. The guide describes in steps the preparatory work that has to be done from the teachers to offer the opportunity to the students to describe and share their project ideas following the FEEL, IMAGINE, CREATE and SHARE approach.
