Pedagogical scenarios for adapting and improving inquiry activities

It is common that learning materials need modifications and additions before they can be used in the classroom. Inquiry activities are no exception, and many teachers may find it natural and necessary to adapt existing inquiry activities to their local needs and circumstances. There may also be teachers who do not naturally consider adaptation and thus may ignore and miss potentially applicable and productive inquiry activities. For these reasons, we have developed the following six pedagogical scenarios that guide teachers to evaluate, redesign, improve and adapt inquiry activities in their classrooms:

1. Introduction to the concept of inquiry learning and the Ark of Inquiry learning model

2. Promoting awareness of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI)

3. Empowering girls in science 4. Adjusting the inquiry proficiency level

5. Adding or improving inquiry phases

6. Overcoming language and sociocultural barriers
