Școala Gimnazială Nr.4 Turnu Măgurele

Gymnasium School Nr. 4 Turnu Magurele is an institution of culture and education that is totally dedicated to the community. It serves a community located on the outskirts of Turnu Magurele and in the village of Odaia (built as part of Turnu Magurele). Daily, a total of 125 children out of a total of 352 commute between the mentioned village and the school. Although it is rated as an urban area, the environment is characterized by extreme poverty, including cases of children who do not have electricity at home. Material shortages at family level translate into chronic under-stimulation of children's abilities, both cognitively and non-cognitively. School is put in a very difficult position to compensate for this lack of incentives, especially through social and creative activities.

Gymnasium School Nr. 4 Turnu Magurele wants to provide its students with the necessary training to become young people able to cope in any situation through an appropriate educational offer, to encourage self-discipline, the development of positive thinking, the physical and mental balance, the reconstruction of the notion of free time, for a successful education.

School is a competitive, friendly, educational environment in which students are delighted to feel appreciated, helped, encouraged, and protected, where each student can learn to work individually and in a team to develop their capabilities intellectual, moral and civic at a level that will allow it to succeed in a competitive society.

Both in class and in the course we promote a pupil-centered learning using interactive teaching-learning-assessment methods and setting up an educational offer in accordance with the needs of students, parents and the community.

Providing equal opportunities for harmonious development for each child is in our permanent attention, currently having more than 40 pupils with special educational needs integrated in mass education.

Over time, we have been concerned with the development of educational projects whereby all school pupils have their intellectual work skills in order to be able to learn throughout their lives and the skills they need to social inclusion and to reduce school dropout:

- "Together with our children" (2012-2014) community activation program for enriching the educational offer of the School Nr. 4 Turnu Magurele.

- "Let's go to school" (September 2013 - June 2014) (September 2014 - June 2015) Microgrant awarded by UNICEF Romania to help combat school dropout.

- "Always Winners" - "Rural Investment Program - Special Fund for Children" June 2015-2017

- "Together we will succeed" project funded by the Vodafone Romania Foundation and Princess Margarita of Romania Foundation within the Rural Investment Program 2017-2020

Our mission is supported by the Florian Cristescu Parents Association, local authorities, economic agents, other representatives of the community, children having the chance of a permanent education designed for the future, in the spirit of European values, developing communication skills, active participation and responsibility in the social life and cultural, capable of harnessing their potential and making the best choices to successfully integrate into the knowledge society.
