Heather Young

I am Assistant Headteacher at Penwortham Priory Academy in Lancashire, UK. I live with my partner and two grown up children. I graduated in 1984 from MMU in Applied Physics & Geography and have an MA in Educational Leadership. My enthusiasm for teaching and Science continues to expand, like the universe! Last year, one of my pupils became the youngest person in the world to create nuclear fusion, with voltages around 20kV; my job was to ensure he stayed safe! I am a keen Ornithologist and volunteer for the BTO collecting data on birds and a member of the British Cactus & Succulent Society with a growing collection. I leads the DofE scheme at my school and enjoy camping and fell walking. I enjoys cinema and reading, knitting and photographing wildlife. After taking my GCSE in Astronomy, along with my pupils last year, I am now trying astrophotography too. @hethyoung
