Escola Profissional de Almada
School 2 membersEscola Profissional de Almada dates back to the 70’s, when the Margueira’s shipyards were built and the need of professional training for its workers was felt. Back then, Margueira’s shipyards (from Lisnave-Estaleiros Navais de Lisboa, SA) were one of the biggest in the world and what was then known as Centro de Formação Manoel de Mello (Lisnave’s school) allowed 3000 workers to have training on metal mechanics, welding, piping, metal working, among others, every year. Its training level was well known in and out of boarders.
In 1992, a new step was taken towards the training of young people to the world of work. Through a contract signed with the Ministry of Education, Lisnave created Escola Profissional de Almada, which was taken by GESTNAVE in 2000 and transfered to the association PROFORAL in 2007. This transfer assured the continuity of the human and professional training that is still our mission today.
Although mainly focused on Vocational Educational Training (VET), offering different types of courses for young people, such as Electronics and Automation, Industrial Maintenance, Renewable Energies and Automobile Mechatronics; Escola Profissional de Almada never forgot its roots and kept working on, and is improving nowadays, the training on welding, especially for adults.
