Our project aims to teach the values of ancient Greek philosophical thought, which is considered to be the basis of modern European culture and intellect, through a cross curricular teaching approach. Our students will meet ancient Greek literature, will discover the timeless humanitarian principles, they will practice critical thinking and hopefully they will understand the value of Democracy and human rights.
Our program refers to the connection of the archeological sites with the most basic ideas of well-known ancient Greek philosophers and involves High School students (12-16 years old) and us as the responsible teachers
The area we are interested in is located in the center of Athens between the Hill of Acropolis, the National Observatory of Athens in Thisio and the Monastiraki square. Basically the archaeological center of Athens.
In this model you can see the virtual restoration of the buildings that they were standing in this area during the Classical times of the 5th century BC. This area was established as the political and social center of the city.
We have chosen to place the action of our programme in this area, because there, during the ancient time and on a daily basis philosophers, orators, scientists and intellectuals, as well as students were gathered and were discussing many interesting topics.
