This project is about Astronomy. You will begin by learning about our Solar System, what the Moon is, what the star is, light. You will learn why Earth has day and night and how the changing angles of sunlight produce seasons. You will explain the motions of Earth sand the Moon and the effects of these motions as they orbit the Sun (phases of the Moon , eclipses, and tides). You will 'explore' the lunar craters, lunar seas and mountains on the Moon using a computerized telescope.
After these, you will make a reseach in your city and community about Columbus 4th voyage in America and how Columbus survived by using a total lunar eclipse trick.
In this platform you will register all details of your project. When you finish it, your project will be online and available for anyone to see.
Thi is how the project fits in the RRI model:
Governance:
This projectis based on a fundamental key point which is to teach students what science is. It highlights the fact that science needs to be shared in order to be valid, it needs to be transparent and collaborative so as to contribute to the development of our society.. In this project students reflect with the community and will co-create possible solutions sharing in the end all their work.
Public engagement:
Students will interview their communities as well as important stakeholders, experts in the problem they are working on. Students will discuss with their parents, other family members, friends, community, about their research.
Gender equality:
The problematic involved in this project is transversal for all human in the world, regardless of their gender. On the resources created the teacher advise is given in order to provide equal opportunities not only for both genders, but also among all the different personalities.
Science education:
Students will be engaged in Inquiry-Based activities that will lead them through the scientific method. It is expected that after creating their projects, students will have understood what astronomy is. By working with the community and sharing their work in the end, students will bring science education to their community as well as awareness for important scientific questions.
