Finding technological solutions inspired by nature for people with special needs
The students will meet people with special needs (disabilities) from their community, learn about their daily life and together they will find a problem they wish to solve. During the project the students will be exposed to the field of Biomimicry through a visit to the local petting zoo and through lectures and activities given by experts and teachers. The students will work in groups to plan and design a product according to the engineering design process. The product that will be developed will solve the special needs people's problem and will be inspired by nature. The final products will be presented to the community during a pick event with all the people that were involved in the project and other representatives from the municipality and from the Ministry of Education.

RESOURCES NEEDED:
The school will need help in finding academy experts in the Biomimicry and engineering fields. The school will also require money for students' travels. The school will also need some equipment for building the products, some of it will be provided by the local science center.

במסגרת לימודי העשרה במדעים למדנו על בעיות במערכת החיסונית של אנשים. החלטנו לחקור את הנושא.
נכון להיום, יש אנשים הסובלים מאלרגיה לאבק.
בגלל אלרגיה זו, הם עוברים טיפולים רבים בבית חולים, שותים תרופות וכדומה.
כל הטיפולים האלה מקלים עליהם אך לרוב מדכאים להם את מערכת החיסון.
בנוסף לכך, יש תופעות לוואי לתרופות אותם שותים הסובלים מאלרגיה זו, למשל: הרגשת נמנום ועייפות.
מסיבה זו החלטנו להקל על החולים יותר ולהמציא טיפול שיעזור להם בצורה הטובה ביותר!

במסגרת השיעורים שלנו בנושא ביומימיקרי, חיפשנו מחקרים מתאימים
אנו מצאנו בעל חיים בעל מנגנון ביולוגי שיכול לעזור לנו למצוא טיפול מתאים ונוח לחולים באלרגיה לאבק.
לסאיגה יש חוטם גדול הנראה כתלוי על הפה. החוטם משמש ככל הנראה לסינון האבק מהאוויר בקיץ, ולחימום האוויר הקר בחורף לפני שהוא מגיע לריאות.
חוטם בשרני זה הוא גמיש מאוד ובעל מבנה ייחודי של עצמות מפותלות.

אנו חשבנו לייצר מוצר טכנולוגי שניתן בעת הצורך להכניס ולחבר לאדם באף. המוצר יחקה את החוטם של הסאיגה שיסנן את האבק וכך ימנע מהאבק לחדור אל גופו של המטופל. כך המטופל לא יהיה יותר במגע עם אבק ולא יסבול מהאלרגיה
