The main aim of this project is to convey and consolidate specific knowledge regarding objects’ motion in a uniform gravitational field. The goal is to emphasize ways in which the students can understand and use the concept of uniformly accelerated motion in a straight line, and apply this knowledge to case studies involving objects moving in a uniform gravitational field. Finding out about and understanding typical mathematical concepts, terminology and calculations procedures, and using educational computer software during the teaching-learning-assessing process, the students can have outstanding achievements.
In order to put into practice the theory they learned, the students will study the motion of objects launched vertically upwards in a uniform gravitational field. They will help kindergarten pupils to make and launch water rockets. This activity is to be a contest and an absolutely remarkable experience, not only because of the applying of the achieved knowledge, but especially because of the way they learn how to work in team while at the same time competing against each other, as well as because of the learning by teaching process. The teams will have each its own logo and its own T-shirt design. Parents will be involved. The students from grade 9 will study the trajectory and the parameters involved in the motion.
