Modern Science at High Schools

Community   10 members

Our community consists of science teachers and high school’s students who are interested in the achievements of modern science and want to make everyday people understanding them. Within the last decades, science has made considerable progress and has changed the way we understand our world. Also, many inventions which are based on modern science strongly affect our everyday life, yet very few people seem to understand that all these innovations are actually applications of physics, chemistry and biology. For example, most people use smart phones or personal computers but they hardly recognize microelectronics or solid state physics behind them, considering that the corresponding subjects are boring and maybe useless.  They also do not realize large scientific projects’ (e.g. the ones in N.A.S.A. or C.E.R.N.) influence on our society. On the other hand, there are students who want to know more about this aspect of science and teachers who try to explain it them. Our community aims to

  1. Enable communication among students and science teachers who are interested in modern science.
  2. Help them to exchange good practices for teaching modern Science at European High Schools.
  3. Show that modern Science is not only important but also interesting.
