11o ΗΜΕΡΗΣΙΟ ΓΥΜΝΑΣΙΟ ΙΛΙΟΥ (11th Junior High School of Ilion)

Our school, 11th Junior High School of Ilion, is a Gymnasio/ Lower Secondary Education, with 314 students aged 12-15 years old and 35 teachers (32 in General Education and 3in Special Education) and two administrative staff.  It is located at Ilion, a suburb of western Attica, 8 km from Athens city center. The socio-economic composition of the Parents is low to average and there are a few cases of Roma.

Our school is highly interested in teacher training by participating in Erasmus+ mobilities (2 recent ones were for two groups of teachers in Berlin and in Dublin at the Europass Teacher Academy) to strengthen our teachers' competencies in teaching 21st Century Skills and supporting a collaborative climate at school.

It also organizes in-school training on classroom management practices, innovative teaching practices and coping with issues of bullying and students' safety.

For 4 years, there is a group of students of the C' class that participate in the "Virtual enterprise" project, a SEN project and they also participate in the annual contest.

Also, before the pandemic, our school in order to cultivate the "love of reading" was organizing "Meeting the writer days" with open events where writers were invited at school.

Among the extra-curricular activities there is the team of students that create theatrical performances and we have an open event to present them. performances.

The school has organized a parent counseling team from 2017 to 2019 under the auspices of the Prevention and Support Center of the Municipality.

The 11th High School participates in eTwinning projects, where there are collaborations among European Schools, and for 9 of the projects that we have participated in have been awarded National and European Quality Labels.

Our school also participates:

-regularly in any "Eratosthenes" activities are organized around the world,

-in the Europe Code Week initiative organizing many activities that develop Computational Thinking

-in STEAM promotion actions (eg it is one of the schools selected by the National Support Organization of the eTwinning action to receive robotic equipment and 3D printers and use them in eTwinning projects)

-supports the actions of the SCIENTIX community

-participates in the action Science is Wonderful (an initiative of the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)

-participates in World Space Week

and there is a special interest in the cultivation of Media Literacy and in issues of the safe use of the internet by participating in similar actions.

We are a school that aims to be a learning organization not only for students and teachers but as a hub of culture and education for the wider local community and our participation in the SALL project has as its main goal the support of our actions in this direction, creating bonds with the community and motivate our students to work on real-life problems of their interest and be prepared to take initiatives and actions as responsible future citizens.

A short tour at our school

Το 11ο Γυμνάσιο Ιλίου είναι ένα σχολείο στην Περιφέρεια Αττικής στο οποίο είναι εγγεγραμμένοι  314 μαθητές και απασχολούνται 35 εκπαιδευτικοί ( 32 Γενικής, 3 Ειδικής Αγωγής) και δύο διοικητικοί υπάλληλοι. Η κοινωνικό-οικονομική σύνθεση των κηδεμόνων είναι μέση προς τα κάτω με ελάχιστες περιπτώσεις ρομά.

Είναι ένα σχολείο το οποίο πρωτοστατεί στις επιμορφωτικές  δράσεις στους εκπαιδευτικούς με τη συμμετοχή σε προγράμματα Erasmusplus με πρόσφατη αυτή σε δύο ομάδες στο Βερολίνο της Γερμανίας και στο Δουβλίνο της  Ιρλανδίας στον επιμορφωτικό φορέα Europass Teacher Academy θέμα τις δεξιότητες του 21ου αιώνα και την καλλιέργεια συνεργατικού κλίματος στο σχολείο.

Επίσης διοργανώνει ενδοσχολικές επιμορφώσεις για τη διαχείριση σχολικής τάξης και ζητημάτων υποστήριξης και πρόληψης επικίνδυνων συμπεριφορών των μαθητών. 

Στο 11ο Γυμνάσιο Ιλίου λειτουργεί εδώ και 4 χρόνια ομάδα μαθητικής εικονικής επιχείρησης που ανανεώνεται κάθε χρόνο  από τους μαθητές/ τις μαθήτριες της Γ΄Γυμνασίου και  συμμετέχει στο πρόγραμμα του ΣΕΝ.

Επίσης το 11ο Γυμνάσιο Ιλίου μέχρι  πριν από την πανδημία διοργάνωνε ημερίδες συνάντησης με λογοτέχνες με σκοπό τη διάδοση της λογοτεχνικής ανάγνωσης  και τη βιωματική καλλιέργειά της στους μαθητές /στις μαθήτριες.  

Έχει συσταθεί ομάδα  θεατρικής αγωγής με την προετοιμασία και το ανέβασμα θεατρικών παραστάσεων.Το 11ο Γυμνάσιο Ιλίου παρουσιάζει σημαντικό ποσοστό αριστούχων άνω του 1,5 %.

Στο σχολείο έχει λειτουργήσει ομάδα συμβουλευτικής γονέων από το 2017 έως το 2019 υπό την αιγίδα  του κέντρου πρόληψης και στήριξης του Δήμου.

Το 11ο Γυμνάσιο συμμετέχει σε προγράμματα eTwinning, Ευρωαπαϊκών διασχολικών συνεργασιών, και σε 9 από τα έργα που έχει υλοποιήσει του έχουν απονεμηθεί Εθνικές και Ευρωπαϊκές Ετικέτες Ποιότητας. 

Συμμετέχει συστηματικά στη δράση Ερατοσθένης που οργανώνεται από διαφορετικούς φορείς, στην Ευρωπαϊκή Εβδομάδα Προγραμματισμού (Europe Code Week) διοργανώνοντας πολλές δραστηριότητες καλλιέργειας της Υπολογιστικής Σκέψης, σε δράσεις προώθησης του STEAM (είναι από τα σχολεία που έχουν επιλεγεί από τον Εθνικό Οργανισμό Υποστήριξης της δράσης eTwinning να παραλάβουν εξοπλισμό ρομποτικής και 3D printer και να τα αξιοποιήσουν σε eTwinning έργο), υποστηρίζει τις δράσεις της κοινότητας SCIENTIX, συμμετέχει στην δράση Science is Wonderful (μια πρωτοβουλία της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής στο πλαίσιο των Δράσεων Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA), συμμετέχει στην World Space Week και υπάρχει ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον για της καλλιέργεια της παιδείας στα μέσα (Media Literacy) και σε θέματα ασφαλούς χρήσης του διαδικτύου συμμετέχοντας σε ανάλογες δράσεις.

Είμαστε ένα σχολείο που επιχειρεί να αποτελεί οργανισμό μάθησης όχι μόνο για τους μαθητές και τους εκπαιδευτικούς αλλά ως κόμβος πολιτισμού και επιμόρφωσης για την ευρύτερη τοπική κοινότητα και η συμμετοχή μας στο έργο SALL έχει ως κύριο στόχο ακριβώς την υποστήριξη των δράσεών μας ως προς αυτή την κατεύθυνση.
