Tiganokinisi (collection of cooking oil for conversion into biofuel) was presented to the students at their school. When researching the issue of food waste, pupils came upon the Tiganokini initiative, which is conducted by the AKTI Project and Research Center and in which many schools in Cyprus are already involved. Pupils were taught that they may bring cooking oil from home for the organisation to collect and convert into biofuel by burning the oil to heat water and utilise the steam for electricity. Moreover, students investigated the benefits of this project and discovered that discarding oil affects the environment, it is a low-cost method of producing electricity, the oil is usually found in every home, and it is utilised in a number of sectors.
