This educational scenario aims to help educators in order to teach their students some basic spatial concepts of the field of geography (as proposed by Gersmehl and Gersmehl, 2007), using a natural disaster, the hurricanes. This concepts include pattern, region, comparison, hierarchy, association and transition.

Objective of this educational scenario constitutes the study of the lighthouses network of Greece through Geographic Information Systems, so that students can understand some basic concepts of the field of Geographic Information and Cartography. The educational scenario is divided into  three sections of total duration of 5-6 hours (depending on the judgement of the teacher). The first section, which lasts two hours, concerns mainly the acquaintance and the familiarization of students with the concept of lighthouse and with the lighthouses network of Greece. The s

The National Hurricane Center's Tropical Cyclone Reports contain comprehensive information on each tropical cyclone, including synoptic history, meteorological statistics, casualties and damages, and the post-analysis best track (six-hourly positions and intensities). Tropical cyclones include depressions, storms and hurricanes. So, this educational object contains the tracking charts of hurricanes between 2009 and 2014 for the area of north Atlantic. 

This game-based educational scenario aims to teach students some basic concepts of the field of Geographic Information and Cartography, such as the concept of map, 2D and 3D representation, geographical and cartesian coordinates, orientation, navigation and Global Positioning System. Το εκπαιδευτικό αυτό σενάριο πραγματεύεται την ανάλυση υδρολογικών δεδομένων του υδατικού διαμερίσματος της Θράκης, προκειμένου να μελετηθεί η ποιότητα των υδάτων της περιοχής, μέσω των κύριων εφαρμογών των Συστημάτων Γεωγραφικών Πληροφοριών (Σ.Γ.Π.). Οι φοιτητές καλούνται να πραγματοποιήσουν μια σειρά από διεργασίες, οι οποίες αφορούν:

Αντικείμενο του εκπαιδευτικού σεναρίου αποτελεί η μελέτη του φαρικού δικτύου της Ελλάδας μέσω ενός Συστήματος Γεωγραφικών Πληροφοριών, προκειμένου να κατανοήσουν οι μαθητές βασικές έννοιες της επιστήμης της Γεωγραφικής Πληροφορίας και της Χαρτογραφίας. Το συγκεκριμένο σενάριο χωρίζεται σε τρεις ενότητες συνολικής διάρκειας 5 έως 6 ωρών (ανάλογα με την κρίση του εκπαιδευτικού). Η πρώτη ενότητα διάρκειας δυο ωρών αφορά κυρίως την γνωριμία και την εξοικείωση των μαθητών με την έννοια του φάρου και κατ' επέκταση του φαρικού δικτύου της Ελλάδας.

Σκοπός αυτού του εκπαιδευτικού σεναρίου αποτελεί η επίλυση ενός χωροταξικού προβλήματος με χρήση κύριων εφαρμογών των Συστημάτων Γεωγραφικών Πληροφοριών.
