Hosted by OSOS , contributed by karine.ramon on 18 June 2018

How make perceive colors to people that do not perceive them?

The theme is the " Perception of colors ".
The idea left the synaesthesia which corresponds to the association of two senses. The most common association is the perception of colors when the synesthète hears a sound.
Franz Liszt describes an experience " of colored audition ".
The study is made in partnership with two researchers, the one in optics, and the other one it psychoacoustique.
The project suggests us experimenting and understanding colors and transforming them, by means of a researcher, into a sound signal, to propose an analysis aimed at color-blind persons or partially-sighted persons.

The project, in scientific dominant, has a component important human science. He allows to give a societal size to a scientific approach.

The project realized this year is gone deeper into and will end in the creation of a piece of music from colors thanks to sensors.
Thus it will be a question of associating sounds with colors as in the case of a synaesthesia.

Learning Objectives
Identify questions of scientific nature. Propose hypotheses and conceive experiences to test them. Develop simple models to explain observed facts. Practise languages. Use the digital tools. Cultivate his sensibility.

The pupils looked for comparisons with light signals.
They led an investigation with the pupils of the middle school to know which associations could be made between colors and sounds.

We realized, by means of a researcher, a device allowing a sound interpretation of colors to present them to people not perceiving 'normally' the colored signals.

The works are presented to the schools of sectors. The pupils also participate in scientific competitions.
